Founded and sponsored by the Sisters of St. Francis of Philadelphia, Neumann is a private, Catholic, co-educational College in the Franciscan tradition, which emphasizes respect for individuals, concern for the environment, and social responsibility. The College offers undergraduate degrees in a broad variety of subjects, six graduate programs, and an accelerated bachelor's degree program for adults.

Neumann now fields fifteen NCAA athletic teams, is home to six performing arts groups, has three new residence halls that accommodate more than 500 students, and recently launched new programs in athletic training and criminal justice. The student-faculty ratio of 14:1 allows professors to provide the personal attention for which Neumann is famous. This expansion of programs and services, coupled with the College's commitment to first-rate academic instruction and real-world career preparation, has caused Neumann's popularity to boom in recent years.

The Situation

Neumann College wanted to integrate a state of the art system into their renovated boardroom. However, the end users were non-technical so the system had to be intuitive and user friendly. The primary use of the room would be board meetings which required audio recording and impromptu audio conferencing.

Client Needs

  • The IMS Solution

IMS was contacted at the ideal time, in the early planning stages and was therefore able to design the solution before construction started. The Design Build solution permitted IMS, by collaborating with Neumann's Design Firm and Capital Projects Team, to provide a system to fit not only the end users' needs and budget but also the ascetics of the space.

    • A wireless touch panel gives users control of components at their finger tips with the flexibility of being moved around the room.
    • Dual masking screens were installed to support both 4:3 video and HDTV 16:9 format from the front projection system.
    • Projector lifts were installed in the drop tile ceiling to conseal projectors when not in use.
    • Tabletop microphones for audio conferencing and voice reinforcement.
    • Networked system allowing remote monitoring and assistants by technical staff without interrupting presentations or meetings.
